What animals will I work with?
As a keeper for the day you will be able to enjoy your day assisting our keepers on:
- One of our many primate houses (langurs, lemurs, marmosets, woolly monkeys or one of our two mixed houses).
- The giraffe section, which includes the hoof stock (vicunas, guanacos, camels and tapir).

Although we will make every effort to place you with your choice of animal we cannot guarantee it.
During your day you will work with a selection of animals, not just your chosen one.
What will I wear?
Being a keeper can be a messy job and you will be expected to muck in. Please wear suitable old clothes,
wellington boots and don’t forget your waterproofs just in case it rains as you might be working outside.
What do I need to do on the day?
Please make your way to reception for 8.00am, where you will sign the
Health and Safety forms and be taken to your allocated section and
introduced to your keeper. Your day will end at 4.30 pm.
- Participants must be 17 years and over, be quite physically fit
because of the nature and demands of the work.
- If you need personal insurance then please arrange your own
insurance for the day.
- This activity is inside public opening hours. Strict rules apply so that the animals are not disturbed
and work is carried out and working procedures are not altered.

Junior Shadow a Keeper for the day
An ideal experience for children who think they would like to experience being a zoo keeper.

at Pets at Twycross. It is an interesting day giving children an insight on how to care for
domestic pets from around the world. Refreshments, lunch, and a presentation certificate as a
memento of your day will be provided. This experience is suitable for children aged 7 – 16 years
old, a parent or guardian must be present at all times during the day.
There are only provisions
for one adult to be present during the entirety of the keeper experience. The rest of the family
