Whether you are a Brownie group or a Women's Institude group we can provide an experience that your members will find enjoyable and engaging.
Nothing compares to a trip to the Zoo. Where else can you get transported to the jungles of South America, the Himalayas and the forests of Borneo all in one day?
Why not add to your groups experience by adding a package delivered by our knowledgable staff? Our sessions provide an in-depth understanding of all Zoos work, our history or whatever suits your needs.
Adult Interest Groups
For adult groups we can deliver talks of 45 to 60 minutes on the History of Twycross Zoo. The talk includes the background to the zoo, highlights some of our most charismatic, interesting and endangered animals, discusses the conservation work we do at home and abroad before introducing our most recent projects and arrivals. Even if you cannot make it to the zoo, we can come to you! Evening talks are charged at £90 (inclusive), please call 0844 474 1777 or email email@example.com to enquire.
Brownies and Guides
Twycross Zoo Discovery Team has collaborated with Girl Guiding Midlands to produce two brand new days designed to help your pack complete their animal-related badges. These days have been trialled with local groups and tailored completely to what Brownies and Guides want from a day at the zoo.
Days: Weekends and weekdays during school holidays
The day runs from 10am until 4pm with up to two hours free time at lunch. Cost for the day is £300 for a maximum group size of 30. This cost includes entry to the zoo and all activities. We request leader supervision is kept to a ratio of one adult to eight girls, and we include entrance for adults up to a 1:5 ratio in the price.
Get Animal Active - To complete Guides Animal Active badge
This day begins with an introductory trail to give your group a real feel for the zoo and see some animals straight away. It also includes a conservation talk with a chance to meet some of our friendlier animals and explore some of our furs and other specimens. In the afternoon alongside the badge requirements, the group will get the chance to make some enrichment for our animals before rehearsing and performing a play highlighting key conservation issues.
Be A Friend To The Animals - To complete Brownies Friend to the Animals badge
This day begins with a slow walk up to the education building to give your group a chance to see some animals and how they live in the zoo. We will introduce the day by expanding on the differences between wild and zoo animals and thinking more about the reasons why animals are in the zoo. This is a chance to meet some of our friendlier animals and explore our furs and other specimens. After lunch and free time, the group will have an arts and crafts session looking at colour, camouflage and pattern and the day will finish with a guided tour of the zoo designed and decided by the group to ask any of those burning questions that have been bugging them all day.
By the end of these days, your group should feel confident that they have completed their Animal Active or Friend To The Animals badge and had a fantastic time doing it!
