Conservation

Susie and bonoboThere are nearly 2 million species of animal that we know of in the world with more yet to be discovered. Unfortunately many species are on the brink of extinction with hundreds having gone that way already. This is mainly due to actions taken by human beings. Zoos form a global community that works together to maximise their impact on global conservation. At Twycross Zoo - East Midland Zoological Society, as part of this global community, we contribute to conservation in many ways.

We currently have over 200 species many of which are enrolled in captive breeding programmes and we contribute to conservation in the wild through our Conservation Welfare Fund.

To find out more, explore the conservation section of our website or email us at conservation@twycrosszoo.org
