Learning for GCSEs at Twycross Zoo is Unique
Learning at Twycross is unique. Students connect to animals in a truly unique way. By having the chance to get up close to real life examples of the natural world your students will be part of a unique learning experience. The result will be greater knowledge retention and a greater enthusiasm for your subject.
We offer a range of sessions aimed at students between 14 and 16 that are suitable for a range of syllabi from the sciences to qualifications in animal care or leisure and tourism. Please call or email if you would like advice on the most suitable session for your learners.
All sessions are recommended as a workshop where a 45-60 minute session is delivered in the morning followed by a 30 minute feedback session based on the worksheet activity. Each of the sessions below can be delivered as a 45-minute lecture, which will be slightly less in-depth than the workshop.
Worksheets will be provided for students taking part in a workshop. However, you can request a digital copy so that the students can use them prior to/after an indiviual session.
Many of our talks are designed to complement each other, such as animal behavior and animal communication or evolution and selection and classification. By design these combinations encourage students to get more from their zoo visit experience.
We offer GCSE sessions based around the following topics:
- Animal adaptation
- Animal behaviour
- Animal communication
- Applied science (must be booked as a workshop with a feedback session in the afternoon)
- Biodiversity and conservation
- Business and customer services at Twycross Zoo
- Careers at Twycross Zoo
- Evolution and selection
- Marketing Twycross Zoo
- Welfare, enrichment and training
You can find our educational group entrance rates here. All sessions are free of charge until the end of August and from the 1st September workshops will be charged at £70 and individual sessions at £35.
