What do we do for EYFS?
Here at Twycross Zoo we believe that our connection with nature should be explored from an early age and that engaging with animals can be a powerful experience for young children. This is why we have carefully developed pre-school sessions based on the early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework, providing a solid foundation and equal learning opportunities for all. The sessions concentrate on a hands on approach, using observational skills which involve all senses. These sessions allow children to experience the world of animals in a safe and fun environment. All sessions involve a chance to meet animal(s), increasing the learning potential and enabling children to engage in new experiences.
Sessions
A World of Colour
A gentle introduction to the ways animals use colours and camouflage in the wild through unique and interactive animal based arts and craft activities.
Animal Differences
A session to introduce early years to the difference between insects, mammals and reptiles and how these differ from themselves.
Monkey Puzzle
A session using literacy and movements to introduce early years to a wide range of animals found in the rainforest. The children will also gain a basic understanding of how animals grow.
Our EYFS sessions can accommodate up to 20 children at a time and are free of charge until the end of August, from 01/09/2013 sessions will be £35 each. Click here to find our educational group entrance prices.
