Twycross Zoo - East Midland Zoological Society (TZEMS), the World Primate Centre, holds a large variety of primates - every species of great ape (gorilla, chimpanzee, bonobo, orang-utan) plus a range of other primates including gibbons, lemurs, callitrichids, cebids and guenons to name a few! We have impressive breeding records for many of these species and recent changes to husbandry practices has enabled more natural groupings and enclosure modifications. We have more to do!

Deputy Section Head: Great Apes
We currently have a vacancy for a Deputy Section Head on the Great Ape section. The section manages all the Great Ape groups including chimpanzees, gorillas, orang-utans and the only bonobo group in the United Kingdom. This is a key role which will involve working on the section, covering all areas of animal husbandry, supervising and training staff, and deputising in the Section Head's absence.
We are seeking a high performing individual with a proven track record in zoo animal management. You will have a minimum of 5 years experience as a keeper and demonstrate a substantial working knowledge of the natural history and management of great apes. You must be committed to continued professional development of yourself and other staff. Supervisory experience as well as an animal-related qualification, such as the BIAZA approved ANCMZA or DZMAA, would be advantageous.
The role is full time, including weekend duties on a rota system. Salary is paid monthly and we provide uniform, 31 days holiday, 5% employer's pension contribution following qualifying period.

Animal Keeper: Great Apes

Senior Graphic Designer
We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Graphic Designer, to provide assistance to the Marketing Manager. We are looking for a senior designer with a minimum of five years professional experience to join us as a key member of the design team to work on a number of tasks ranging from signage and brochures to product design and marketing material. Experience to date will include branding and strong guideline documents in your portfolio with accompanying evidence of print production. A degree in Graphic Design or a relevant subject is essential.
This role involves managing multiple projects with an emphasis on quality by design as well as delivering to deadlines and within budget. The successful applicant will be responsible for producing design projects with a high visual impact to communicate key messages from the Zoo, developing creative ideas and concepts using the appropriate media and style for a range of work and providing expertise and a creative input into design work from the inception stage to the final product. The Senior Graphic Designer will also provide design production advice and guidance, working with consultants when necessary to develop the Zoo's corporate identity and branding.
This is a full time position working 5 days out of 7 with an unpaid break of 60 minutes.

Catering Manager
We currently have a vacancy for a Catering Manager, assisting the Catering General Manager in running the catering and events function on a day to day basis.
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that operational areas are run professionally, efficiently and within budgetary guidelines whilst meeting and exceeding visitor expectations.
Supervising and managing staff in line with the business forecast and budget is an essential part of this role, as well as carrying out daily checks of all operational areas.
The ideal candidate must be a team player who can motivate the team to go beyond our visitors expectations. They will have a professional image, be confident, flexible and prepared to work various shifts including weekends.
Preferably, you will hold a relevant catering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or similar) and have a minimum of five years proven experience in food operations, with 3 years management experience. An intermediate food hygiene certificate and a health and safety qualification are desirable, along with COSHH training. An interest in the Zoo's work and purpose is essential.
This is a full time position working 5 days out of 7 with an average of 38 hours per week.

Kitchen Manager
We currently have a vacancy for a Kitchen Manager, to lead the development of the food offer for both public visitors and private events and to manage the kitchens to a consistently high standard of performance.
The successful applicant will bring energy, enthusiasm and creativity, along with their passion for food. They will motivate, lead, develop and enhance the skill level of the team, ensuring that excellent standards are upheld at all times. They will be responsible for the management of kitchens and food preparation areas in line with agreed budgets and the needs of the business.
Compliance with food hygiene and health and safety standards is essential, as well as complying with the company procurement system to purchase food, beverage and sundry items and ensure supplier invoices are processed and authorised.
