Education Officer (Temporary and likely to last 6 months)
We currently have two vacancies for Education Officers within our Education Department. These roles are offered on a temporary basis for a period of 6 months, to support the Education Department during its peak time. Reporting to our Senior Education Officer, the key purpose of this role is to prepare and deliver talks for groups of students from the age of 5 up to undergraduate level and produce educational material for the Zoo. You will also attend exhibitions, market the Zoo's educational services and deal with enquiries and queries from the public and visitors.
The successful applicant will have a degree in a Zoo-related subject and, ideally, will hold a teaching qualification or have significant teaching experience. Excellent presentation skills are essential along with an outgoing and confident personality. Experience in handling small animals (mammals and exotics) would be preferred.
This is a full time position, 5 days out of 7, including weekends, bank holidays and school holidays.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic team members to join our Education Department.
You will support the team by providing a high standard of service to visitors, including groups of students. Delivering the zoo's key educational messages, you will assist in the Zoo Centre and other exhibits as required, deliver activities and make presentations to the public.
With an immediate Easter start, you will work on a temporary basis throughout the summer period including school holidays, bank holidays and weekends. This role is offered on a temporary, zero hours contract. Hours are allocated by mutual agreement and you may be required to work up to 5 days out of 7.
Rates of pay are £5.25 per hour at ages 16-17, £5.68 at ages 18, 19 & 20 and £6.31 at age 21 and above.

Land Train Driver - Immediate Start
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced driver to operate a land train shuttle service around the Zoo site for the Spring/Summer period, including bank holidays, weekends and school holidays. For insurance purposes, the minimum age for this position is 25 years.
In order to be considered for this role you must hold a current PSV/PCV/Category D driving licence and CPC.
The land train provides a safe, efficient and customer friendly service for our visitors and comprises an engine and two carriages (one with disabled access), connected by swing points. The driver is supported at all times by an additional member of staff to assist passengers.
The successful applicant will be required to drive the land train, assist in setting up and checking the vehicle and ensuring it is kept clean and presentable.
You must have a clean driving licence and some previous experience in a customer-focussed environment. You should also have an interest in the Zoo's work and purpose.
You will work on a flexible rota basis, by mutual agreement. This will include weekends, school holidays and August bank holiday. The rate of pay for this vacancy is £7.04 per hour.
